Course Overview
This course is designed to provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding on how to use personal fall protection equipment in varied environments. Following this training you and your team will be able to identify the dangers associated with working at height as well as understanding key HSE legislation. Attendees will also have a full comprehension on the various categories of PFPE and rescue equipment will understand its characteristics, benefits and any potential limitations. They will be also able to carry out a simple pre-deployment inspection of equipment and understand the need for record keeping, traceability and how to dispose of equipment correctly.A key element of this course is practical application and on the successful completion of the course those attending will be provided with both the theoretical and practical skills required to use a range of fall arrest, work positioning and restraint equipment.Within the course students spend a significant amount of time practicing the techniques of climbing using temporary safety systems, installed and structural anchors. The training also includes a full demonstration of applicable rescue techniques.
Course Prerequisites
Medically fit with a head for heights and a reasonable level of fitness.
Who Should Attend?
This course is designed for those who have access and work at height within unprotected areas or those who use a combination of dedicated and in-situ anchors. This course is also relevant to those who traverse and climb at height or who are moving between anchors and remaining attached at all times or perhaps use equipment to partially support themselves (but not rope access) while at height.If the trainees could be expected to undertake a rescue situation of a person from height then the height safety level 2 course is also required.

- Inspection, care and disposal requirements for PFPE
- Restraint, positioning and fall arrest techniques
- Anchor point selection and checking
- Practical climbing on ladders using fixed vertical safety systems
- Practical climbing on ladders using twin lanyards
- Use of Self-Retracting Lifelines Use of temporary, vertical, and horizontal fall protection systems
- How to recognise and deal with syncope (suspension trauma)
- Emergency procedures and planning
- Demonstration of rescue techniques
